Purchase College said in a statement that "We are currently in an area of high transmission. Masks are mandatory indoors." The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is saying masks should now be worn indoors in nine New York counties, including Westchester, in its latest COVID-19 data tracker report. Westchester Resident Crowned Miss New York Teen USA 2020 A  Westchester resident has been crowned Miss New York Teen USA 2020. Maya Dominguez, of Yonkers, was crowned the new winner on Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College in Harrison. Dominguez competed against 116 contestants who faced seven judges during private interviews, and evening and activewear competitions. Miss Teen USA is a beauty pageant run by the Miss Universe Organization for girls aged 14–19. This year marks the 38th Miss Teen USA pageant. It will be held during the spring of 2020.

Matthew Ward Of Rye, Student At Purchase College, Dies At 21 Purchase College student Matthew Michael Ward of Rye died Friday, May 31. He was 21. He was the son of Michael and Vivian Ward and is also survived by sisters, Marguerite, Miriam, Mary-Kathryn, and Meredith.  According to his obituary, he was the happiest young man who loved making everyone laugh, gifted with many talents including making music, jamming with his friends, and playing timpani at St. Augustine's Church on major feast days with his father who is the longtime music director there.
