It currently has around 1,425 stores nationwide. The company announced on Monday, Sept. 9 that it will sell its assets to an affiliate of private equity firm Nexus Capital Management. In announcing initial store closures late in late July, Big Lots said a bankruptcy filing could be coming. Man Hit, Killed By Train In Greenwich, Officials Say A Connecticut man was killed after being hit by a train in Fairfield County. The incident place around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4 in the vicinity of the Cos Cob station. Killed was Hartford County resident Michael Haden Crouse, age 38, of Newington, said MTA Police Department spokesperson Aaron Donovan. Trains were delayed for about 50 minutes as investigators worked, officials said. MTA Police are investigating. Additional information was not available at this time.

A strong quake off the coast of the Alaskan peninsula that hit 7.8 on the Richter scale early in the morning Wednesday, July 22 registered on Westport’s seismograph. Hundreds of other seismographs around the world picked up on the Alaska quake.
