After several hours of negotiations, a man surrendered to police after holding a woman against her will in a Westchester County apartment, authorities said. The incident started in the early morning of Friday, Feb. 10, around 3 a.m., when distressed family members told Mount Vernon Police that a woman was being held against her will at 29 East 4th St. and had sent concerning text messages about the situation. Thousands of Stop & Shop employees could go on strike as their contract with the company expired over the weekend. Video: Man Armed With Rifle Kills Himself During Domestic Dispute In Area, Say Police
A 37-year-old armed with a rifle is fatally shot himself after a domestic dispute resulted in a standoff with responding officers. At about 10:43 p.m. on Friday, July 20, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to 208 Old Route 22 in the Town of Amenia for a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute involving a man in possession of a firearm.
