Brand-New Poll Sheds Light On Riley-Molinaro Congressional Race
A new poll shows Democrat Josh Riley with a four-point lead in the hotly contested 19th Congressional District 19 race against Republican incumbent Marc Molinaro.
The poll, produced by SurveyUSA for News Channel 13 in Albany, found the two in a tight race but with the potential for a different result from the showdown between the same candidates two years ago.
In 2022, Molinaro beat Riley by 1.6 points, or 4,500 votes.

Westchester County Health Commissioner Sherlita Amler has been named the 2024 recipient of New York Medical College's William Cullen Bryant Award, county officials announced on Thursday, Oct. 3.

New York continues to rank among the top 25 best states in the country.
The Empire State came in at No. 23 – down slightly from No. 20 last year – on the 2024 Best States list by U.S. News & World Report, released Tuesday, May 7.
Rankings were determined using 71 metrics across eight categories, including fiscal stability, infrastructure, education, health care, and the economy. Data was pulled from national surveys taken by nearly 70,000 people.

A brand-new report ranks all 50 states from top to bottom based on a variety of factors.
U.S. News & World Report released its annual best states rankings on Tuesday, May 2, and New York came in at -- drumroll, please -- No. 20.
Rankings were based on statistics in several categories, including economy, crime, health care, infrastructure, and education.
A total of 48.8 percent of New Yorkers are college educated, the report said.
New York has a median income of $43,462 and a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of just over $2 billion.

Health care aide Ashley L. Burdick, a resident of Carmel, died on Sunday, May 12 at home. She was 28 years old.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1990 in Carmel, the daughter of Frederick and Brenda (Tebordo) Burdick. She attended Brewster Schools and received her GED.
She was a certified health care aide with Affiliated Home Care out of Mahopac. She had a special place in her heart for people and always helped those in need, according to her obituary. She enjoyed playing basketball and doing crafts, and loved music and animals, especially birds and penguins.
