Over 100 Assault Weapons, Guns Turned In At Buyback Event In Northern Westchester
More than 100 firearms, including several assault weapons, were turned in during a community gun buyback event held in Northern Westchester. A total of 103 guns were collected during the buyback event held in Peekskill on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the United Methodist Church of Peekskill, the New York Attorney General's Office announced. A Hudson Valley gun buyback event collected 67 guns, including four assault rifles. The annual event was held in Rockland County in Spring Valley on Thursday, June 6. To celebrate the beginning of National Gun Violence Awareness Month, authorities in Westchester will soon be holding a buyback event to take firearms from circulation and to keep residents safe. Number Of Guns Turned In At Westchester Buyback Announced
More than 100 guns were taken off of the streets following a successful gun buyback hosted by New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman in White Plains. Schneiderman announced that 120 firearms were turned into law enforcement officials during the buyback on Friday in White Plains, making it nearly 1,700 statewide since his office launched the gun buyback program in 2013.
