Vehicle Fire Rages In Westchester: Photos
A raging vehicle fire in Westchester near the Fairfield County line kept crews busy for an extended amount of time. The blaze happened on Thursday morning, Aug. 17 in the village of Port Chester near the border with Greenwich, the village's fire department said. Because the car's fuel tank had become compromised, the effort to extinguish the flames became an "extended operation," according to the department. Blaze Breaks Out At Home Under Construction In Greenwich
The fire marshal's office is investigating an early morning blaze at a Fairfield County home that was undergoing renovations. The fire took place in Greenwich early Thursday, Nov. 10 at the home on Palmer Hill Road. The Greenwich Fire Department said in a Facebook post that when they arrived on the scene they found heavy fire conditions. "Units were able to make a quick knockdown," the department said. Missing 6-Year-Old NY Boy Found Dead In Pond
A 6-year-old boy who was reported missing was found dead in a pond near his home in New York. Onnex Thompson-Hall's body was found by New York State DEC Forest Rangers in the Washington County town of Easton at about 6:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, according to New York State Police. Authorities said the apparent drowning is believed to be accidental. Police received a report at about 10:40 a.m. that day that Onnex went missing after he was believed to have wandered off in the area of the Washington County Fairgrounds, State Police said. An investigation is underway after a fatal crash that left one person dead and an area Verizon store in flames. The incident took place around 3:50 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Riverside Commons Shopping Center located at 1233 East Putnam Ave., in Greenwich, said Captain Mark Zuccerella. Fire Reported At Greenwich Hospital, Officials Say
A fire has been reported at an area hospital treating many with patients with novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The blaze began around 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at Greenwich Hospital, the Greenwich Fire Department said on Twitter. The fire was reported in a generator area and involved some debris in a shaftway, the department said. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within minutes, officials said on Twitter. Raging Fire Destroys Greenwich Home
A two-and-half-story uninhabited home was consumed by fire overnight, causing the structure to partially collapse. The Greenwich Fire Department began receiving multiple 911 calls regarding the fire at 15 Locust Road around 11:52 p.m. Thursday, said Greenwich Fire Department Assistant Chief Robert Kick. I-95 Crash Sparks Police, Scuba Diver Search
An area man landed in the hospital after losing control of his Ford Explorer, veered across I-95 and landed in a stand of trees, according to the Connecticut State Police. The crash took place around 2 a.m. Sunday south of Exit 3 in Greenwich when Nathan Arturo Herrera-Donalre, 27, of Stamford, was traveling southbound and lost control of his vehicle, struck the metal guardrail, rolled over and then hit the right shoulder before rolling down an embankment and striking trees, state police said.
