Longtime Area Police Detective Dies Unexpectedly A popular longterm police detective in the Hudson Valley died unexpectedly after nearly 50 years serving the community. This week, the Town of Fishkill Police Department announced that detective Ted “Teddy” Alston died on Monday, Feb. 17. A Dutchess County 911 alert was issued warning officers in the Town of Fishkill that a child was choking and not breathing on Saturday, Jan. 4. Town of Fishkill Police Officer Kevin Martyn jumped into action when the dispatch came across his radio, and he was able to arrive at the scene within seconds.
