Fire Breaks Out At Condominium Complex In Westchester
A fire broke out at a busy White Plains condominium. Firefighters were dispatched to 4 Martine Ave. in White Plains at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, according to reports. Crews were reportedly still at the building as of 2:45 p.m. after the fire was brought under control. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire has not been disclosed. Homeowner Hospitalized, Cat Saved, Two Firefighters Injured In Westchester Blaze
A cat suffered a scare, but was ultimately rescued, as dozens of firefighters battled another blaze at a Yonkers home, leaving two with minor injuries. A fire broke out shortly after 1:30 p.m. at a two-story Kathwood Road home on Monday, Dec. 10. The elderly homeowner was able to evacuate the property, but a cat was left behind as the flames spread from a first-floor bedroom to the second. A school bus driver was rescued by firefighters after the bus she was driving rolled over and she became "heavily trapped" near the border of Orange and Ulster counties.The crash took place around 7:11 a.m. Monday on Quaker Street in the area of the county line and involved a bus servicing the Wallkill School District, said the Plattekill Fire Department. A new baby boy came screaming into the world with a little help from firefighters as the season's first Nor'easter hammered the area. Three firefighters suffered injuries battling a blaze inside a popular Mount Vernon eatery that left the building razed and burned. Bedford firefighters are on the scene of a construction accident in which a worker was injured during a partial collapse of a wall, according to fire officials. Pair Of Westchester Fires Displace 30
A pair of separate fires displaced a total of 30 Mount Vernon residents on Sunday. A blaze that broke out around 4 p.m. in a two-story home on Vernon Avenue took several hours to contain. The 12 residents of the structure escaped safely, but several minor injuries to firefighters were reported. Earlier Sunday, just a short distance away, a four-family structure on Haven Avenue was destroyed by a fire that left 18 homeless. The Red Cross is assisted those affected by both fires.
