Man Admits To Hate Crime After Hitting Asian Woman 125 Times In Westchester Attack, DA Says
A Westchester man has pleaded guilty to committing a violent hate crime against a 67-year-old Asian woman who was entering her home.
District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that Yonkers resident Tammel Esco, age 42, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, to committing a violent hate crime on Friday, March 11 against the woman who was entering her apartment building.
According to court documents, Esco cursed at the victim, punched her around 125 times in and around her head, repeatedly stomped on her upper body, and spit on her.

More than 100 firearms were seized and 11 people were arrested following a six-month, multi-agency investigation into “ghost guns” and illegal weapons in Westchester and Putnam counties.
Search warrants were executed at eight locations by local, county, and federal authorities in Westchester and Putnam this week, which led to the seizure of rifles, handguns, “ghost guns,” and multiple high-capacity drum magazines.
Police investigators added that some of the weapons lacked or had defaced serial numbers.

Police in Westchester have solved a cold case after nearly three decades.
The Mount Vernon Police Department announced that after 27 years, investigators have identified the man who killed local resident Jacinto Liriano, 61, who was murdered in a botched robbery on Friday, May 7, 1993.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on the night of the attempted robbery, Liriano, who had immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic the month before, was shot and killed on West First Street.

Anthony DiPippo, who was twice convicted of raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl before being found not guilty during his third trial, has settled with Putnam County for $12 million, much to the chagrin of District Attorney Robert Tendy.
After being convicted of raping and murdering Josette Wright at two separate trials, DiPippo was acquitted in 2016 after two decades behind bars, walking away scot-free.

One Remains In Critical Condition Following Double-Fatal Stamford Crash
One of four people hospitalized following a double-fatal crash in Stamford remains in critical condition.
The crash took place around 2:32 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26, when a 2008 Nissan Altima struck two utility poles on Canal Street, just north of Ludlow Street, leaving two teens dead, and four others injured, said Stamford Police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth.
According to Booth, Kymoni Pollock, 19, died at the scene, and NiShawn Tolliver, 18, died at the hospital.
