Former Briarcliff Resident Burt Erickson Passes Away at 100 Burt Erickson, 100 years young, formerly of Briarcliff Manor and Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2023 at the Veteran’s Association Nursing Home in Montrose, where he received wonderful care. Burt was born on March 8, 1923 in Chicago, the son of Frances and Burton Erickson. He was the oldest of three children. He was predeceased in death by his sister Gertrude “Trudie” Hodges and his brother Jerome “Jerry” Erickson. Burt married the love of his life Rita Marie Jerome on Dec. 27, 1952. They were married 61 years until her death on April 17, 2014. Burt is survived by his dau…

Paul Silas, 3-Time NBA Champion Player/Coach Who Lived In Northern Westchester, Dies Former NBA player and coach Paul Silas who lived in Northern Westchester for a period of his life has died.  Silas died on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the age of 79, according to a tweet by the Houston Rockets, where Silas' son Stephen, is the team's head coach. The cause of death was cardiac arrest, his daughter, Paula Silas-Guy, told The New York Times.
