The advent of the winter season brings with it the opening of dozens of Westchester County winter sports recreation venues open to area residents, including areas for ice skating, cross country skiing and sledding.
No ski or skate rentals are available (except at the indoor Playland Ice Casino) at the venues. All activities are permitted seven days a week during daylight hours only.
Cross-country skiing is allowed at the following locations:
Blue Mountain Reservation, Welcher Ave., Peekskill
Bronx River Pathway, Valhalla to Mount Vernon
Cranberry Lake Preserve, Old Orchard Street off Route 22, North White Plains
Croton Gorge, Route 129, Cortlandt
Croton Point Park, Croton Point Ave., Croton-on-Hudson
Dunwoodie Golf Course, Wasylenko Lane off Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers
Kitchawan Preserve, Route 134, Yorktown
Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, Route 35, Somers (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. only)
Lenoir Preserve, Dudley Street off North Broadway, Yonkers
Maple Moor Golf Course, North Street, White Plains
Marshlands Conservancy, Route 1, Rye
The trails at Hilltop Hanover Farm, Hanover Street, Yorktown Heights
The trails at Merestead, Byram Lake Road, Mount Kisco

Sledding
Sledding is permitted at Croton Gorge, Lasdon Park,* Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, and Dunwoodie, Sprain Lake, Saxon Woods, Mohansic and Maple Moor golf courses.
Ice Skating
When conditions permit, ice skating is permitted at the following locations:

Mountain Lakes Park, Hawley Road, North Salem
Wampus Pond, Route 128, Armonk
Willsons Woods Park, East Lincoln Ave., Mount Verno
Tibbetts Brook Park, Midland Avenue, Yonkers
Twin Lakes Park, California Road, Eastchester
Ice conditions are checked daily at all locations. Those using the ice facilities should look for a Skating Today signs posted that indicates safe conditions for that day.

Indoor Skating
