Westchester Sports Hall of Fame Seeks Nominations

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Westchester Sports Hall of Fame is currently seeking nominations for this year’s candidates, according to a press release from the county government.

More than 200 people, living and deceased, have been inducted into the hall of fame since its creation in 1968. These people “have gained prominence” in their fields and “have made substantial contributions to sports in Westchester County,” according to the press release. Westchester County Parks sponsors the hall of fame.

Potential candidates must have reached this plateau in either professional or amateur sports as a player, coach, writer, broadcaster, referee or manager. A committee will review all nominations and then select the candidates.

Induction into the hall of fame occurs in the fall. Each new member will receive a trophy and an inscribed plaque in the hall of fame’s gallery at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

Nominations must be postmarked by Saturday, May 26 and the completed forms must be sent to Westchester Sports Hall of Fame to the attention of Kevin Cook at 450 Saw Mill River Road in Ardsley, NY, 10502.

The necessary forms can be found here and more information is available at 914-231-4564.
