Westchester Golf Courses to Open to Warm Weather

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – Local golfers will enjoy unseasonably warm weather Wednesday when Westchester County’s six 18-hole public golf courses, located in the north, central and southern areas of the county, open for the 2012 season.

The six courses are Dunwoodie (Yonkers), Hudson Hills (Ossining), Maple Moor (White Plains), Mohansic (Yorktown), Saxon Woods (White Plains) and Sprain Lake (Yonkers). Driving ranges are available at Mohansic, Sprain, Dunwoodie and Saxon Woods.

Renovations to tees, greens and other parts of several courses have been done the last few months in preparation for the spring opening. Mild weather has helped keep the course in top condition.

The 1st and 15th tees recently have been expanded, and lobby and ticket windows have been renovated. The course has practice greens, a driving range lighted for night play and a catering facility. The 5,778-yard course on 126 acres plays to a par 70.

The course plays to par 70 over 6,110 yards.

Maple Moor also has practice greens and a catering facility in the clubhouse.

The course is 6,374 yards in length on 140 acres and plays to a par 71. The club has a restaurant, Bistro 25 at Maple Moor; a pro shop; practice greens; and locker rooms
