Westchester County Hosts 3-on-3 Hockey Tourney

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Teams of amateur adult hockey players will have an opportunity to show their on-ice skills in March when the Westchester County Parks Department hosts its second annual “Shoot the Sound” 3 on 3 Adult Hockey Tournament at Playland Ice Casino in Rye.

“We started out last year with just four teams but we expect more interest this year,” County Recreation Supervisor Ike Kuzio said. “Last year’s teams have all contacted us to return this year. I’m a hockey player myself, so I know players will love this event. We’re hoping to add a few more teams.”

The county will host the annual event, which began in 2008, at the Studio Rink at Playland on Saturday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m.

Team Rick, an Irvington entry, won the event last year.

The tournament is limited to 20 teams, with open and intermediate divisions. Players must be age 18 or older. Each team can bring a maximum of six players and one goalie. Running time for games is 10 minutes and awards will be given to first- and second-place teams.

The registration fee is $150 per team and the deadline to register is March 20. Refreshments will be sponsored by Costa Foods.

Those interested in entering a team may log on at www.ryeplayland.org to download a registration form; or call for more information at (914) 328-1542
