Trio of Westchester Wrestling Tournaments Saturday

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- High school wrestling fans in Section 1 will be treated to another busy wrestling Saturday with Yorktown, Irvington and Woodlands hosting tournaments. The two-day Yorktown Dual-Meet tournament opened Friday and will continue Saturday.

The 12-team field includes Carmel, Croton, Hen Hud, John Jay-Cross River, Ossining, Sleepy Hollow Somers, Putnam Valley, Westlake, Burnt Hills (Section 2) and the host.

There are two pools of six with the first-place teams from each pool wrestling for first place. The title match is schedule for 4 p.m. The teams remaining teams will match up and wrestle for third place on down.

Irvington will run a dual-meet tournament which includes a field of Port Chester, Hackley, Brewster “B,” Arlington “B,” Tappan Zee, Pawling, Truman (New York City) and Sayville (L.I.). Wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m.

Woodlands will begin wrestling its’ dual-meet tournament, 9 a.m. with the final scheduled for 5 p.m. Hastings, Lakeland/Panas, Mamaroneck, Pleasantville, Rye and Yonkers will join Woodlands.
