WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Twelve teams will vie for six coveted spots as the Section 1 Boys Lacrosse Championships semifinals will be played Thursday.
The semifinal winners in Class A, Class B and Class C advance to the respective finals May 30, at White Plains High School.
In Class A, top-seeded Lakeland/Panas will face off with defending champion, Mahopac. The teams met during the regular season, with Lakeland/Panas winning in overtime. The other semifinal has No. 10 Mamaroneck playing at No. 3 Arlington. Mamaroneck advanced to the semis with a 10-9 upset of second-seeded Suffern.
The No. 1 seed in Class B, Yorktown, will host No. 5 Rye. Somers, seeded third, and John Jay-Cross River, seeded second, will meet for the second time this season. Somers defeated John Jay, 9-6, April 12.
Defending champion and top-seeded Bronxville will face fourth-seeded Byram Hills. This was the 2011 Class C final. Pleasantville, the 18th seed, will look to continue its amazing sectional run when it plays at No. 11 Hen Hud. The Panthers have won three sectional games, including upsets against second-seeded Dobbs Ferry and seventh-seeded John F. Kennedy.
