Poll: Did NCAA Punish Penn State Appropriately?

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The NCAA announced penalties for Penn State University on Monday morning in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

The NCAA hit Penn State with a $60 million sanction and a four-year ban on all postseason college football. It also vacated all of the Penn State football team’s wins from 1998 to 2011, which will also affect the career record of former head coach Joe Paterno.

The university must also reduce 10 scholarships initially and 20 total scholarships for the next four years.

The NCAA said the $60 million figure represents the average annual revenue of Penn State’s football program.
