High School State Basketball Championship Changes Venue

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association voted this week to move the state's high school basketball championships from Glens Falls to Binghamton.

The decision, which came after a 14-8 vote by the Executive Committee of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, moved the championship tournament to Binghamton's Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena from 2017 through 2019, according to Time Warner Cable News.

In 2014, the association revised the process of selecting championship venues to ensure that all of New York's 11 sections would have a chance to bid upon championship sites, according to the report.

The association also announced that Middletown High School will host the outdoor track and field championships in 2019.
