Five questions with the Armonk Baseball League VP

Rocco Troiano is the Vice President of the Armonk Baseball League. He took some time out of his busy schedule at the league’s eighth annual Memorial Day Classic to discuss the day.. Q: How long have you been on the Board of Directors and involved in the league as a coach?

Troiano: I have been on the board for seven years and coaching for 11 years. Have your children played in the Armonk Baseball League?

Troiano: My son, Brandon, who is 17 and will graduate from Byram Hills, played in the league for 10 years. My son, Nick, who is nine and a fourth-grader, is in his fifth year. My daughter Ashley, a freshman at Byram Hills, did not play softball in the league, but she was on the Byram Hills’ JV this year. When did the Armonk Baseball League first introduce this event?

Troiano: This is our eighth year. Originally, we did this as a fundraiser for the fields and then it became an annual event. All the money that we have raised through the years has gone right back into the fields. What makes this a special day for the kids?

Troiano: All day they get to be together, play baseball and softball, and they get to have fun with their friends. This is all about the kids having fun. Do you look forward to this every year?

Troiano: Every year we, as a family, clear our Memorial Day weekend. This is something that has become special for us. We enjoy seeing everyone and the kids enjoy themselves. I enjoy watching baseball.
