DiCaprio, Kenney Tops in County Diving

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Alec DiCaprio set a new boys’ diving record and Maddy Kenney topped the girls competition Monday in the Westchester County Diving Championships 13-and-under competition at Lake Isle Country Club.

DiCaprio, who represented the Briarcliff Manor Club, complied 200.55 points to set the new mark, finishing more than 60 points better than his nearest competition Michael Ackert of the Rye Golf Club, who placed second with a score of 139.15.

DiCaprio’s mark eclipsed the 188.75 set by Theo Bodor of the Orienta Beach Club. Boder continued his strong diving by wining Tuesday’s County Diving title in the 17-and-under division. Kevin Bailey of Westchester Country Club in Rye (127.05) placed third, Nick Leone of Scarsdale Town Pool (123.70) and Joshua Rachlin of Scarsdale Town Pool (121.30) also finished in the top five boys divers.

Kenney won the girls event by 20 points, scoring 171.95 to best second-place finisher Michelle Anderson of Mount Kisco. Chloe Best of the Larchmont Yacht Club (148.60), Kathleen Rooney of the Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck (143.45) and Jilia MacLaury of Rye Golf (143.15) completed the top five places for the girls.

The 86th Westchester County Swimming and Diving Championships continue with the swimming events at Rye Playland Pool August 1-4.
