Couples Joins Constellation Champions Golf Field

HARRISON, N.Y. – Fan favorite Fred Couples is the most recent golfer to add his name to a growing list of the sports greats who will be playing in next week’s final event of the Champions Tour, the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship to be held August 17-21 at Westchester Country Club.

Couples, who has 15 PGA TOUR titles, including the 1992 Masters on his win list, was the tour’s Player of the Year in 1991 and 1992. In November, Couples will head to Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia to once again serve as captain of the U.S. Presidents Cup team.

Couples has played Westchester Country Club 20 times on the PGA Tour, earning eight Top 10s, with a best finish a fourth-place tie 2004.

Tournament Executive Director Steve Shoenfeld looked forward to a competitive week with top Senior Tour golfers in the field.

“We are gearing up for an outstanding week of championship golf at Westchester Country Club and are thrilled that Fred has added his name to the stellar line up of players that will compete here,” Schoenfeld said. “It should make for an exciting and rigorous week of competition for our fans to enjoy.”

The entire 78-player field will be released at 6 pm ET on Friday. Previously announced players include defending champion Mark O’Meara, Mark Calcavecchia, John Cook, Ben Crenshaw, Brad Faxon, David Frost, Bob Gilder, Jay Haas, John Huston, Hale Irwin, Tom Lehman, Tom Kite, Bernhard Langer, Steve Pate, Corey Pavin, Kenny Perry, Nick Price, Loren Roberts, Scott Simpson, Jeff Sluman, Craig Stadler, Hal Sutton, Bob Tway, Bobby Wadkins, Tom Watson and D.A. Weibring.

Daily and weekly tickets, including clubhouse packages, are still available for pre-purchase at www.ceseniorplayers.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate. Children 18 and under, and active, retired and reserve military personnel are admitted to the grounds at no charge.
