Class AA and Class C Boys Hoops Quarters Results

The Class AA and Class C quarterfinals dominated the action on Tuesday as teams fought to earn a trip to the Westchester County Center.

In Class AA, New Rochelle played Mount Vernon closely but still fell, 74-59, to the Knights. New Rochelle took a 19-18 lead in the second quarter, but Mount Vernon rattled off a 19-2 run to close the half despite Isaiah Cousins and Jerrel Marshall riding the bench in foul trouble.

Kirkland Ottey, who did not play at all in the first half, started in the second half for No.8 New Rochelle and scored all 25 of his points in the final 16 minutes. The referees blew their whistles often on Tuesday. Joe Clarke, Chris Elefante and Terrence Holden all started the game and fouled out for the Huguenots.

No. 2 Fox Lane used an 8-0 run, sparked by Will Trawick’s one-handed dunk, in the final 1:22 to hold off No. 7 North Rockland, 52-39. The Foxes led 44-39 with about three minutes to play and had not scored for five minutes before Trawick’s dunk.
