Byram Hills vs. Fox Lane Rematch Cancelled

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Those looking forward to Fox Lane’s much-anticipated rematch with Byram Hills, who dealt the Foxes a loss earlier this season, will have to wait a bit longer.

Wednesday’s scheduled game between the two teams at Fox Lane at 4:15 p.m. was cancelled after only one official showed up to referee the game. Both teams practiced on the court and the coaches waited for 30 minutes until they ultimately decided to cancel the game.

Fox Lane coach Chris Violante said the two teams could not mutually agree to start the contest.

“It’s not safe for the kids to have one official at a varsity (game),” Byram Hills coach Ted Repa said.

Both coaches hoped to reschedule the game as soon as possible and wanted to get the rematch in next week. Violante said they could schedule the game for next Friday, Jan. 13, if they are lucky.

Violante said last month that the Foxes were anticipating getting another shot at Byram after the defeat they suffered in early December. He stayed patient after the postponement on Wednesday.

“We’ll get another shot,” Violante said.
