Byram Hills Football Faces Spring Valley Saturday

ARMONK, N.Y. – The Byram Hills High School football team will try to improve to 3-1 when it travels to Spring Valley on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Bobcats are 2-1 so far but could easily have been 3-0 if not for a wild, chaotic, 21-20 loss to Port Chester in week two. Byram Hills’ defense has been relatively strong thus far, particularly in a 10-0 shutout against Westlake last week.

The running game has been Westlake’s bread and butter this season, but the Bobcats never let the Wildcats get going last week. The Byram Hills defense swarmed all over Westlake and forced a couple of turnovers.

Skylar Simon recorded two sacks against Westlake, while Connor Morley hauled in an interception and Paul Schuman recovered a fumble.

The Bobcats’ offense has also been relatively consistent throughout the year. Senior running back Brandon Rosen led the way against Westlake as he rushed for 153 yards on 15 carries, including a 55-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for the lone touchdown of the game.

Spring Valley is coming off two straight wins, the latest of which was a convincing 33-8 rout at Lincoln. Defense has also been a strong point for the Tigers as they have given up more than 12 points just once in the first three games.

But the key to this game could be Spring Valley’s offense, which might be a bit stronger than the Bobcats’. Spring Valley scored 35 points in its week two win against Gorton and 33 last week against Lincoln.

The most points Byram Hills has scored this season is 20, which the Bobcats did in the first two games.
