Armonk Knicks Fans Support D'Antoni's Exit

ARMONK, N.Y. – Coach Mike D’Antoni’s coaching system and his discordance with star player Carmelo Anthony are two reasons Armonk Knicks fans thought his resignation Wednesday was a good move.

“With D’Antoni’s system the team isn’t built to play that way,” said Kevin Hayden, a Connecticut resident who works in Armonk. “They have adequate point guards and they don’t want the offense to run through Carmelo.”

“D’Antoni was the wrong man to get this team together,” said Tony Verzello, an Armonk resident. “And when you put the coach up against a star who’s making $20 million a year, the star’s going to win. The magic’s gone, and there was a bigger feud between the two of them.”

When asked about a new coach, Hayden said, “The team is built around superstars, so they need a coach that can handle the players. They got the players, so no more excuses.”

Luis Gutierrez, the manager of Route 22 restaurant in Armonk, said, “Maybe Phil Jackson would be good.” Jackson played for the Knicks and coached the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.

Gutierrez also said the team should trade Anthony and get Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic.
