WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The crossroads of Route 22 and North Greenwich Road have a long and storied history.

Nearly a stone's throw from that intersection is where the Smith Tavern, the early center of the Town of North Castle, still stands.

The former tavern and now home of The North Castle Historical Society contains the memories from an era when weary travelers and their horses would find a place to rest and refresh before continuing on their journey across New England.

At that corner now is a new kind of way-station, but it is in the form of a day school dedicated to help children in need. At The Westfield Day School, students with learning and other school problems can find respite and care before continuing on in their personal journeys in school and in life.

For 16 years The Westfield Day School, part of the New York State educational system, had been in Rye, working quietly with hundreds of students from throughout Westchester and Fairfield counties in order to help children in grades 7-12 overcome their personal obstacles in school or with learning. Students with specific learning problems, such as dyslexia or dysgraphia (a writing disorder) are welcome, along with those with other school or social difficulties due to ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, depression or anxiety.

You can visit The Westfield Day School in person at 1 North Greenwich Rd, Armonk, NY or visit the website at:
