Pace University's Mobile App Development Bowl Seeks To Solve Aging Dilemma

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- By 2050, more than 21 percent of the global population will be 65 or older, compared to 11.7 percent in 2013, according to U.N. and U.S. censuses. Worldwide, this aging population will represent the focus of several major societal and economic changes and challenges. This means that policymakers, governments, health systems, manufacturers, retailers, and other public and private stakeholders will need to adapt to the needs of the aging population.

This year, Pace University's Mobile App Development Bowl will pit student teams against each other to create apps that solve the need that aging persons face in various aspects of their daily lives. This may include:

  • Access and use of products and services across industries: retail, food, healthcare, transportation, finance, etc.
  • Better performance of various activities: exercise, cooking, taking medication, reading, dating etc.
  • Communicating with loved ones and others in their communities by utilizing media and social platforms
  • Participants can sign up as a team, with a minimum of 2 members. Can’t find a team? Students can register individually and organizers will help form a team with you.
