This year’s keynote in speaker is Matthew Ganis, DPS, who is currently a senior technical staff member with IBM in Somers, N.Y. as well as an adjunct faculty member at Pace. His current areas of interest are social media analytics, the Internet-of-things, and cloud computing. He is also an adjunct professor of computer science and astronomy at the Pleasantville campus, where he teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
In his 30-year career at IBM, he has been responsible for a number of technological advances such as the creation of the first enterprise firewalls for IBM; the creation of highly available world wide web platforms, and the advancement of many software development techniques.
Ganis holds a BS in Computer Science and an MBA in Information Systems from Pace University; an MS in Astronomy from the University of Western Sydney, Australia; and a DPS in Computing from Pace University. He has authored or co-authored more than 35 papers and two books in both of his fields of interest, ranging from topics including programming techniques, computer systems administration, and computer networking to topics on stellar evolution and radio astronomy.
