Ward Elementary, which is the largest elementary school in Westchester County with an enrollment of over 1,000 students, has unique ties to the Pace men's basketball program: Pace assistant coach Nat Harris currently serves as the school's dean of students.
"We are always thrilled when given the opportunity to get involved with the community, especially at William B. Ward Elementary," said Pace head coach, Matt Healing.
While at the school, the Setters visited kindergarten classes, mixed-learning classes, computer labs and the school library. Some players read to the children, while others took part in daily classroom activities. As the team prepares for the upcoming spring semester, they expressed the value in giving back to the community.
"We thank all the administrators, teachers and students for having us at their school," said Healing. "The local community supports us a great deal and we are always excited when it is our time to give back."
