"The American Freshman: National Norms Fall 2014," which surveys more than 150,000 students nationwide, found that 9.5 percent of students felt frequently depressed, a 6.1 percent change from five years ago, the report said.
The number of students who felt overwhelmed by schoolwork and commitments increased to 34.6 percent from 27.1 percent, the report said.
Other results stated that students socialized less and spent more time on academics, the report said.
