ARMONK, N.Y. -- Conor Ahern will be suiting up for the RPI Engineers next fall.

Ahern signed a letter of intent to play football for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy at a signing ceremony at Byram Hills High School Thursday attended by his coach, athletic director, teammates, friends and family members.

His coach Douglas Carpenter said the 6'4 defensive end is super respectful and humble off the field and really intense on the field.

"He's a gentle giant," Carpenter said. “Conor will knock a kid down during a game but right after the play, his hand is extended to help him up."

"Ahern plans to study engineering at Rensselaer.
