Yankee Great Lou Gehrig's Westchester Home Goes On The Market

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- There are no iron gates, but for $399,999, the Meadow Lane home in New Rochelle purchased by baseball's Iron Horse in the 1930s is up for sale.

Lou Gehrig had purchased the four-bedroom home for his parents shortly after being named captain of the New York Yankees, according to lohud.com. A biographer told the news site it was Gehrig's first major purchase.

The house at 9 Meadow Lane, a colonial-style home with a living room, formal dining room, fireplace, eat-in kitchen and 2 1/2 baths, is on the market "as is," according to lohud.com.

The property's market value of $506,826 far exceeds the asking price, according to lohud.com.
