Realtor Reaches Across Generations

Ann Bernstein, a Realtor with Houlihan Lawrence in White Plains, has a passion for her business - and it shows in the time and attention she takes with every client. Ann has a unique perspective that allows her to work with all age groups, from first-time X and Y generation buyers to older clients like her parents. "I'm a baby boomer," she says, "and I understand the dynamics of the sandwich generation."

Ann is particularly sensitive to the needs of clients who may be downsizing after a lifetime in the same home. The process can be overwhelming but Ann is there to help  prepare the house for sale and coordinate the closing and the move. All too often, family members are far away and unable to offer assistance.

"I am a reassuring presence," Ann says. She helps them reorganize and move forward while reminding them that before they know it they'll be at their next stop.

Ann first started selling homes 27 years ago after a long career as eastern sales manager for a sportswear manufacturer. She quickly found that the sales and communications skills she'd learned working in the city were ideal for her new career. She loved presentations, appointments and following up with clients. Most of all she loved working one-on-one with people.

Ann has been successful at integrating business with community involvement. She's on the executive board of the White Plains Business Improvement District, involved in the CowParade White Plains, a successful public art event scheduled for spring 2013. Ann is also a member of the board of trustees of the White Plains Performing Arts Center. "Being on these boards has enriched my life in so many ways," she says.

Ann is optimistic and confident about real estate. With new listings coming on every day buyers have more choices and sellers have more active buyers. “My career is a real pleasure,” Ann says, with feeling. “My clients are spread across generations and they keep me fresh and current.”
