With the holidays fast approaching, Sula Pearlman, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Rye, has a lot on her mind. Rye's Mistletoe Magic is less than a week away, and as treasurer of the Rye Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event, Sula is on the front lines making sure things run smoothly.
"Mistletoe Magic is a wonderful way for local businesses to give back to the community," Sula says. Purchase Street, the main shopping area in town, is closed to traffic and turns into an outdoor festival, with puppet shows, pony rides, a climbing wall, magicians and music. Santa is on hand for photos and most shops are open for business.
New for 2011 is a chili cook-off contest featuring local restaurants as well as members of the Rye fire and police departments.
This year's Mistletoe Magic takes place on Sunday, Nov. 27 between noon and 3 p.m. Sula will be there making sure the Coldwell Banker trackless trolley, a train that gives children and their parents rides up and down Purchase Street, is running on time.
Mistletoe Magic is just one of the reasons that Rye is such a wonderful place to live, Sula says. "Rye has so much to offer - we're close to Manhattan, we have wonderful beaches, fantastic schools and a great community."
During her 36 years helping people buy and sell their homes in Rye and the surrounding towns, Sula has collected numerous awards. She is a member of Coldwell Banker's International President's Circle as well as of the Multi-Million Dollar Club. In addition to her commitment to the Chamber of Commerce, she's actively involved in several local charities.
Sula says that the new technology helps her multi-task and stay connected at all times with her real estate clients. "I find that with my iPad and Blackberry I can work from absolutely anywhere," she says. "With my mobile devices working for me I can even go on trips with my husband."
