President Donald Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, said firing Yonkers native James Comey eased "great pressure" from the ongoing probe of collusion with Russia, according to a bombshell report published Friday afternoon by the New York Times.

Trump told Russian officials during their controversial May 10 meeting that Comey was "crazy, a real nut job," according to the New York Times. Trump said he "faced great pressure" because of Russia, which was taken care of with Comey's firing by Trump, according to the Times.

The meeting occurred the day after Trump fired Comey. At the same meeting, Trump disclosed intelligence from an Israeli counterterrorism operation.

The statements made during the meeting came from a White House document summarizing comments made during the Oval Office and the White House has not disputed their accuracy.

Trump's firing of Comey has stirred up controversy. The White House initially claimed Trump fired Comey at the recommendation of the Justice Department only for Trump to say it was over Comey's investigation into Russia's potential meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Last week, a memo from Comey claimed Trump asked him to stop investigating Michael Flynn, the former National Security Advisor.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post is reporting a senior White House official close to Trump is a "person of interest" in the Russia probe.

Comey lived in Yonkers until he was a teenager before his family moved to Allendale, N.J., where he graduated high school. He later moved to Westport. He is the grandson of longtime Yonkers police officer - and former Police Commissioner William Comey and served as a U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York before being chosen by then President Barack Obama to head the FBI in 2013 on a 10-year appointment.

Trump, who owns the $19 million Seven Spring estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
