So far on Monday, 11 governors from around the country have said they will not accept Syrian immigrants into their states, including Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a presidential candidate. A state’s chief executive does not have the power to bar federal policy on immigrants or refugees from a federal dislocation program, Time Warner Cable News said.
According to Sen. Chuck Schumer, a Democrat and the state’s senior senator, the attacks in Paris raise questions about how those seeking refugee status are checked before they enter the country, Time Warner Cable News said.
