A few days after the New York Times profiled the nastiness of the race, Politico named it one of 15 races to watch on Election Day. Astorino is running for a third term and the two are neck and neck in the polls.
Politico mentioned Latimer trying to make the referendum about Trump and his recent endorsement from Trump's opponent, Chappaqua's Hillary Clinton, while Astorino is running on his pledge to keep taxes flat.
Politico also noted the personal nature of the race, from a home owned by Latimer's wife owing more than $46,000 in property taxes to Latimer calling for Astorino to resign after a man testified he gave Astorino a discounted Rolex in exchange for being named police captain.
