North Castle To Give Town Website A Makeover

ARMONK, N.Y. – North Castle is keeping up with the times as the town has a plan in place to update the town website in order to get information to residents more efficiently.

Town Clerk Anne Curran said that although the current website is not completely ineffective, it is outdated.

“Our website now was originally designed around the end of 2005, early 2006,” Curran said at a board meeting earlier this month. “It served its purpose but we’ve exceeded its capabilities.”

At a special Town Board meeting last week in Armonk, the town signed an agreement to have the company Virtual Town Hall Holdings redesign the site. The bid was originally awarded on August 15. The original cost to redesign the site will be $5,085 and Curran said that the costs going forward to maintain the site are in line with the what the town pays now.

Curran said that Virtual Town Hall offers personalized services that can benefit multiple town boards and departments.

“They offer full on-site developmental training with all of our department heads,” Curran said. “And after four years they offer free redesign.”

The current website acts as an information portal for residents and includes a full telephone directory at Town Hall, agenda and minutes for meetings, as well as archived and live-streaming videos of meetings. Residents can also find important forms and budget information on the site.

The town has not determined a timeline for when the old website will be down and when the new website will transition in.
