John Kasich Hosting Town Hall At Iona College

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The race for the Republican nomination for president will go through New Rochelle Saturday.

Ohio Governor John Kasich has scheduled a town hall at Iona College at 4 p.m. The town hall will be held in the Hynes Center in the Mulcahy Room.

Kasich is the first Republican candidate to schedule an event in the county. Frontrunner Donald Trump will be holding a rally on Long Island Wednesday. Sen. Ted Cruz has an event scheduled for upstate New York Thursday.

New York will hold its presidential primaries April 19.

The governor held two town halls in Long Island Monday and has a town hall scheduled for Rochester Saturday morning.

Recent polls have shown Trump with a commanding lead in the state, 53 percent to Kasich's 21 percent to Cruz's 19 percent, according to RealClearPolitics.

Last week, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton held a rally at SUNY Purchase. Sen. Bernie Sanders held a rally in the Bronx last week, though he has no scheduled events in Westchester.
