CVS Moves Closer To Moving To Armonk

ARMONK, N.Y. – CVS took a big step toward moving in to Armonk earlier this week as the North Castle Planning Board unanimously voted to give a positive recommendation to the North Castle Town Board on the pharmacy’s site plan.

“This applicant has done a terrific job in trying to meet and has met the expectations of the planning board,” said Robert Greene, chairperson of the North Castle Planning Board.

The recommendation came Monday at the planning board’s regular meeting after the board requested that the CVS group conduct a community impact service in early April.  Greene said that the survey came back with a positive showing to both the board and North Castle Director of Planning Andy Kaufman.

Al DelBello, the lawyer representing CVS, said that the group has made major changes to the plan including changes to the exterior to match the New England-style accustomed to Armonk and also access point changes to the Main Street and Maple Avenue entrances.

“The plan is really quite different than what was originally presented,” DelBello said.

In April, the CVS group was met with criticism from the Concerned Citizens of Armonk, a community citizens group of Armonk residents.  Greene said that if and when the CVS moves to the old A&P location, it will be a positive move for Armonk and North Castle.

“I think it will be a great shopping center if it is done according to the site plan,” Greene said.  “And I assume that will be the case.”

The next step for CVS after the positive recommendation is to have its special use permit approved or disapproved by the North Castle Town Board in a public hearing.  The meeting date for this resolution has not yet been set.  If the resolution is approved by the town board, CVS will once again go in front of the planning board to have its site plan resolution approved in a public hearing.
