Who would you favor in a potential 2018 NY governor's race?
- Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D)
- Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro R)
- Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino R)
- Donald Trump Jr. (R)
A new Marist College poll has Cuomo, a New Castle resident, beating his potential 2018 Republican opponents, including Donald Trump, Jr. and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino by a two-to-one margin.
Cuomo leads Trump, Jr. 62 percent to 27 percent. Trump, Jr. ruled out running for governor in April.
Cuomo leads Astorino 58 percent to 26 percent. In 2014, Cuomo defeated Astorino in 54 percent to 40 percent to earn a second term.
A poll was not done for a race between Cuomo and Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, who has said he is considering running for governor.
Cuomo's job approval rating, 43 percent, is at its highest point since Oct. 2014 according to the NBC 4 New York/Marist Poll.
The governor might want to rethink a possible run for president in 2020. A majority of voters, 51 percent, say they do not want Cuomo to enter the race.
