It will no longer be torture to do business with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Governor Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

Cuomo declared a state of emergency for the MTA following a subway derailment in Manhattan and Amtrak work at Penn Station that has caused delays for New Jersey Transit and Long Island Railroad.

The governor said he wants the MTA reorganize and reallocate money to speed up repairs over the next 30 days.

Cuomo's comments came a day after former Gov. George Pataki, a Garrison resident and Peekskill native, told CNBC the governor should be held accountable for the MTA's problems.

"The MTA is an authority where the governor has a majority of appointees. So, ultimately, accountability lies on the governor," Pataki said on "Squawk Box."
