A couple arguing inside a car in Westchester are facing drug charges after police were called to investigate a noise complaint in Scarsdale.

Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Boulevard and Nelson Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, where there was a report of a noise complaint in the area.

Upon arrival, investigators spotted a 2012 Honda CRV that was parked on the side of the road idling. When the officer pulled behind it, the driver attempted to drive away, prompting a traffic stop.

According to police, the officer spoke with the driver, Hartsdale resident Michelle Zicca, who said she had an argument with her boyfriend, Scarsdale resident Ari Krapin, and were heading home. While speaking with her, the officer said that there was an open bag in the back seat with several pill bottles, and he detected the smell of marijuana in the car. When speaking with Krapin, the officer also said there was an open bottle of beer in the passenger side door.

The officer instructed both Zicca and Krapin to exit the vehicle and further investigation found a Michael Kors bag with marijuana and paraphernalia inside. A search of the vehicle found that the bag had a jar of marijuana, a grinder, marijuana pipe and small jar with alleged codeine and vape pen. Both Zicca and Krapin denied having any knowledge of the drugs and neither claimed ownership.

Krapin was also spotted dropping a piece of burnt tin foil when he attempted to exit the vehicle, police said. A hollowed out pen with burn marks was also found in the center console. According to police “both the burnt pen and tin foil are common paraphernalia used to do drugs.” The two were subsequently arrested.

Zicca, 23, and Krapin, 25, were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance. After being processed on the charges they were released and are scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court on Oct. 10.
