Suspect Sought After Midnight Shooting In Westchester

A new resident was sought out and shot in the leg over the holiday weekend in Westchester, police said.

Police received a report of shots fired shortly before midnight on Friday, Nov. 27 in New Rochelle.

Officers responded to a stretch of Horton Avenue near the intersection with Brook Street, where they found a 29-year-old man who was shot in the leg while walking along Horton Avenue, New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa said.

Police said that the shooting victim, who is a new resident to the area, appears to have been targeted. He was treated at the scene before being transported to Jacobi Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

No suspect has been identified, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact investigators at the New Rochelle Police Department by calling (914) 654-2300.
