Christopher Detlefsen, a 46-year-old resident of Milton, was arrested and charged with 3rd degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor, Village Manager Philip Zegarelli said. He was released on $10,000 bail and has been suspended with pay from the district, Zegarelli said. Detlefsen has been employed by the district for 15 years, Zegarelli said.
Detlefsen also turned over about 15 firearms to police, Zegarelli said.
"Every effort was made to discreet, secure the area and isolate the individual," Zegarelli said.
In an e-mail sent out to parents, Superintendent James Kaishian said Detlefsen is prohibited from entering school grounds and having any contact with student or staff.
"I would like to emphasize that at no time were students threatened. However, the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority and we handle these matters with an abundance of caution," Kaishian said. "We will provide the community with further updates as appropriate."
