Jennifer Schmidberger, 40, was charged with one count of grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony.
An audit of the school’s finances conducted by the Archdiocese of New York in 2014 revealed irregularities, according to the District Attorney's Office.
An investigation by the district attorney's office revealed that the defendant made personal purchases using a school credit card and made cash withdrawals from the school account over a period of four years without permission or authority to do so, according to the district attorney's office..
Schmidberger had been the principal of the school since 2010. She was arrested Wednesday by investigators from the district attorney’s office and arraigned in Bedford Town Court.
Schmidberger faces a maximum of seven years in prison if convicted.
Bail was set at $1,500 cash or $5,000 bond. Her next court date is Oct. 7.
