The boat was taking on water off Rye Playland when Greenwich Police Marine officers heard the call on VHF radio Channel 16 used for emergencies on the water, police said in the post.
Greenwich Police Department Marine Technician Fox, Greenwich Police Department Marine Sgt. O'Connor, Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police Officer Nivolo and GEMS Medic Colin Basset all participated in the rescue, police said.
The boat went down in just five minutes after the rescue of the people onboard, police said.
"Thankfully they had a radio and flotation device for all AND Marine Officers ready to respond and on-duty," police said.
No one was injured, and they suffered only property damage, police said.
"Might not have been the best day on the water but when you get to walk away, well, It could have been worse," police said in the Facebook post.
