Police in Westchester are attempting to locate suspects implemented in a pair of daytime strong-armed robberies that happened within hours of each other.

Officers from the New Rochelle Police Department responded to a stretch of Hemingway Avenue at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, where there was a report of an armed robbery.

New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa said that a 38-year-old man was approached from behind by two men who punched him in the head, causing him to fall down, injuring his hip in the process.

While the man was on the ground, Costa said that the two suspects rummaged through his pockets before fleeing on foot without taking anything from their victim.

The victim described the suspects as being African American, one with a dark complexion, who was heavy-set, wearing all red. The second was described as being thin, and he was wearing a blue and black sweatshirt at the time of the attempted robbery.

Costa noted that the 38-year-old man had to be treated for injuries from the incident at an area hospital.

The second incident happened on Remington Place shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Costa said a 56-year-old woman was walking down the street when she was accosted by a man who ordered her to give him everything she had. The suspect then rummaged through her pockets, stealing a bank card in the process.

The second suspect was described as being African American wearing all black at the time of the robbery and a black mask. The victim said that following the robbery, he left with two others who witnesses said were African American, one with a dark complexion, one with a lighter complexion, who were wearing red and black clothing.

Police continue investigating the robberies. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the New Rochelle Police Department General Investigation Unit by calling (914) 654-2270.
