Nine passengers and a captain aboard the single-engine Cessna were rescued after the mechanical failure, which is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board, the New York Daily News reported.
One of the passengers was 48-year-old Bill Lawrence, creator the TV show "Scrubs." Lawrence posted the photo above on Twitter.
The plane had tried to take off two previous times before coming down hard on the third attempt at the Skyport Marina and Seaplane Terminal, according to the Daily News.
West Harrison-based Tailwind Air Service operated the flight, the Daily News said.
