Multiple Bear Sightings Reported Tuesday in Armonk

ARMONK, N.Y. – The North Castle Police Department said Tuesday two separate black bear sightings were reported by residents around noon near the Byram Lake Reservoir area.

Shortly after 11 a.m., police said an Armonk resident reported seeing a black bear walking near 188 Byram Lake Road. North Castle police responded to the call but the animal was gone by the time they arrived. At around 12:20 p.m., police said a resident reported seeing a black bear walking near 1 Byram Hill Road. Once again, the animal was gone on arrival when the North Castle police arrived. The locations are about a half-mile away from each other. 

The bear sightings Tuesday add to a growing list of reports made to the North Castle Police Department recently. Residents are warned to keep their distance from black bears and, if necessary, do not run or make loud noises if the bear does not leave the area. Any sighting should be reported to the North Castle Police Department at 914-273-9500.
